Friends,
Please.... do not believe everything you read in the news!!!! We are fine... Jody is fine! The violence is in isolated area where we do not go. Not even Jody!! There are places that UN Military officers, unless sent with their entire unit on official business, should not go. Going into a crowded market in downtown PAP minutes after a presidential address... is just not a good idea.
It saddens me to think that the world is only seeing the people who are causing violence and chaos and that is what they assume all Haitian's are like. Which could not be further from the truth. The Haitian people by far are sweet, loving people who are trying to make the most of a bad situation. Most of then do not agree with the violence nor want it!!
We know that this is where God wants us for now. If we have to leave... Isaiah can not go with us. Please, continue to pray.

Gail, Thank you so much for this post. I recently had to ban myself from checking on Haiti news. It had become an obsession to find out how "bad" it was getting. I am happy to hear, that not all the news is the only thing we should believe. Thanks a bunch!
Thanks Gail for this post! We continue to pray.
I've been really concerned with Haitians getting a "bad rap" with all the of media coverage showing violent, unruly mobs of people rioting and looting. Many of the people that have talked with me about the situation in Haiti have gotten the wrong impression about Haiti because of it. They think of it as a very dangerous, violent place and can't understand why in the world I would want to go there... much less adopt a child from there. While no one disputes that there are dangerous places in Haiti, what country doesn't have places like that? It's sad that the world is not getting the chance to see Haiti as we see it... a land of loving, friendly, gracious people that have shown remarkable strength and dignity in the face of such horrible conditions. That is the Haiti that I want the world to see!
Thanks for posting this!
I find it interesting that the riots in Asia and Africa are not getting nearly the same media coverage... Haiti gets a bad rap all around no matter what the condition of the country. People have no idea what a wonderful place it is there.
We continue to pray for you, Gail, and everyone else in Haiti.
That's why people like you are important to geting the "real" news out!
Glad you are all ok!
