Wait! What? Andy’s? Is she nuts?
Hold on people, I’ll explain in a minute.
So, Isaiah isn’t your typical “get
on the band wagon of the latest toy/gadget” type of kid. He likes what he likes and can’t be deterred.
Goes with movies too.
His current favorites happen to be Little
Mermaid, the Avengers and Spiderman. All
his make believe activities revolve around these three movies. For the Little Mermaid it’s mostly drawing
pictures of the characters, learning about sharks, octopi
and singing the
songs.
The Avengers and Spiderman have
morphed into elaborate, epic battle reenactments. Which sounds easy considering The Avengers is
the current rage amongst the toy makers.
However, unfortunately, it’s not.
Finding “bad guys” isn’t so easy.
Why are there a dozen Iron Man figures in different costumes but not a
single Loki?
Does a kid need more than
one Iron Man?
Who is he going to fight
against? Himself?
And then there’s Spiderman. I’m not talking “The Amazing Spiderman” in
theaters now. I’m talking Spiderman 1, 2
& 3.
You know Tobey Maguire and
Kristen Dunst.
2002, 2004 &
2007.
Green Goblin, Sandman and Doctor Otto Octavius.
You try explaining to a kid who says he ate waffles for
breakfast (which he did), Sissy came to visit (at Christmas) and he was a
pirate (for Halloween 2 years ago) as all happening yesterday that the movies
(except one) came out before he was born so they aren’t making the toys anymore.
Go ahead.
I dare you.
I’m telling you. It won’t work!
We used to say that in Haiti tomorrow meant any day
after today. This wasn’t meant to
offend, it was just a way of coping with being told by government officials
that our adoption documents would be ready “tomorrow” and tomorrow turned into
next week,
or the week after, or the month after and so on.
Well for Isaiah any day before today is
yesterday.
And if Spiderman came out
yesterday then can you go to Target and
buy me a Sandman toy, please?
Spiderman was easy to find. The bad guys not so much.
Amazon was a bust. On E-bay I scored the Green Goblin for a fair
price.
Everything else was
RI-DIC-U-LOUS!!!
Seriously!?!? $150 for
a freakin’ toy?
I get collecting things.
But, we are not collecting; we are
playing.
Epic battles will be
raged. Good will conquer evil. Bad guys will go down.
Toys are meant to be played with and often
get broke in the process.
And I am NOT
paying that amount of money for a toy.
Not happening.
This is where you come in.
Mom’s and Dad’s…are you holding on to a few things? Maybe not wanting to let them go because it
means the kids are grown up? Would
letting go of a few for a little boy who desperately wants to play help ease
that pain?
My thrift store friends… can you keep your eyes
open?
We need bad guys! Who can over come evil if there’s no one to
fight???
And now for the Andy’s.
You know who you are. Toy Story
3.
Andy all grown up and heading to
college.
Lotso, Chuckles and Big Baby
trying to break up the gang but Woody and Buzz save the day. Andy does the right thing and blesses Bonnie.
Do you think Batman, Superman, Loki or Doctor
Otto Octavius want to sit in a dusty attic?
Isaiah needs the 12 inch figures. We are not looking for the smaller 3-4 inch
size toys. Think original Barbie and Ken
size.
Isaiah has a hard time manipulated
small toys and just gets frustrated.
The
bigger ones are harder to break and easier to find under the bed, in the
closet, in the shower, buried in the sand…
If you have any of these or other nasty villains that
need to be taken down (Isaiah would also love to have Batman and a Bat mobile) and
would like to sell them please e-mail me gailgray1016@hotmail.com or private
message me on FB and we can set up payment arrangements for the cost of the
items and shipping.
Battles need to be raged, Good needs to conquer evil and
a little boy needs to play!
(Just to clarify: We do NOT need Spiderman, Thor, Captain
America, Iron Man, Hulk or the Green Goblin.)
