Landon doing great

Landon had his front tooth removed yesterday and is doing great. He is eatting normally and does not seem to be bothered by the loss of a tooth.

We also got news that our attorney was told our file will be signed next week by the Haitian President. If it really happens than we can expect to pick Sutton up in 4 to 6 weeks!! Of course thats if there are no more delays!! We are praying she is home by the end of September.

We are home!!

Landon and I arrived in Sacramento last Friday. He is doing really good adjusting to his new home. We were able to find a local doctor who was willing to donate his services. He has been tested for worms (very common) and is on medicine now. He has also been treated for scabies (also very common). Right now he is taking 4-6 medicines a day!!! An inhaler for wheezing, vermox for the worms, penicillin for his mouth infection and a multi-vitamin. As well as a decongestant and sometimes an antihistimine!! We've had to start a medicine chart just to keep track of everything.

On Wednesday he is scheduled to have the tooth and abscess removed as long as the cardiologist clears him for surgery tomorrow. The cardiologist will also be looking at Landon's latest echocardiogram to determine when he will need heart surgery.

It was very hard leaving Sutton behind. I know she is in good hands but it's still really hard every time I have to leave. We got an e-mail from our attorney in Haiti and she has an appointment tomorrow with the Haitian social services to try to find out how much longer it will be before we get out of IBESR. We are still waiting on Presidential approval so she may not be able to find out anything!! Please, pray we have presidential approval already!!!

Tomorrow is Carsen's birthday and Andrew is flying in to surprise her. He will also get to meet his brother for the first time!!! It should be a very busy weekend.

Thanks for the continued prayers. We feel so blessed to have our son home and continue to pray that Sutton will also be home soon.

Going to Haiti!!

I leave tomorrow night. We are trying to get Landon a medical visa. His mouth is infected and needs to have the teeth removed. He will also be seeing a pediatric cardiologist while here. It is appears that he may need the heart procedure to repair his pulmonary stenosis sooner than the doctors originally planned.

We were blessed to find a dentist and a pediatric cardiologist willing to donate their services to him. We are praying that if he needs heart surgery that we will be able to find a hospital and staff also willing to donate their services!!

Please, pray that I'm able to get the medical visa and for safety. I have to go into downtown Port au Prince where a lot of the fighting is happening!! The US Embassy is located right in the heart of the chaos and it is the only place to obtain the documents we need!!

I'm praying my next post will be to tell all of you we are home!!

Landon and I are scheduled right now to fly in to Sacramento Airport on Saturday July 16 at 8:16 p.m. However, I'm prepared to stay longer if necessary!!!! I DO NOT want to come home with out him!!

Sutton will not be able to come home with us at this time. We must wait for her adoption to be finalized before she will be allowed to leave the country. She is healthy and doing really well. She turned 1 on June 30th. Carsen was with her and baked her a birthday cake.

Carsen is home and is finally getting used to being back!! She had a rough time but says that she will do it again!! She formed some great friendships and knows that she grew spiritually during her trip.

Our appointment is Wednesday morning, please pray all goes well!!!

Landon is doing better!

At this time the doctor does not feel surgery is necessary. Praise God! He is being monitored for infection and the swelling is going down.

Carsen is also doing better. She says she is happy she stayed and she is enjoying herself more now. The girls went to St, Joseph's guest house and hung out with the boys there yesterday. I'm sure getting out has helped.

Still no news on our file. I've been waiting for an e-mail from our attorney for over a week. I'm trying not to get frustrated but it is so hard. Even an e-mail that says she has no new news but is working on it would be better than nothing! I talked to Nathan (the man who handles paperwork etc for the orphanage) and he assured me that the attorney is working on the files and she said she would be e-mailing me today but so far nothing and it's almost 7 pm in Haiti. So I guess another night without knowing anything. Talk about a faith-building time!! I don't know how people who do not know Jesus get through this process!!! I really do not want to go through it again!!!

please, pray we hear something soon!

Carsen in Haiti and other news

Hi! All!!

Carsen is in Haiti and she is having a hard time adjusting. Please pray for her! I know with time she will do better!!

I did find out while in Haiti that we are waiting on presidential approval and 1 more signature and we will be out of IBESR. Praise God!! It could happen tomorrow or in 3 months but at least we know there is something being done on our file.

Sutton is walking!! She will be 1 on June 30th and is doing so good. She really should be delayed considering her rocky start in life and the fact that she lives in an orphanage in a third world country but I guess she didn't get that memo!! She is amazing!

Landon is getting so big. He is talking and was even saying Sissy by the time I left. He took a bad tumble the night before I left and it looks like he will need surgery on his mouth. He fell out of a plastic resin chair (he was standing in it) and 1 of his teeth was pushed into the roof of his mouth. It appears the tooth is broken above the gum line in several places. He is on antibiotics to prevent infection. We are hoping that it can wait until he gets home so he doesn't have to have surgery in Haiti!

Hopefully the next time I post it will be with news that we are out of IBESR.

Update

Hi!

It's been awhile since I reported anything new, that's because there is nothing new to report!!! We are still in the blackhole of IBESR (Haitian social services) and until they release our file there is nothing we can do!!

Carsen and I leave for Haiti on Tues. June 7th. I'll be escorting 2 little girls home to their mother in Washington on the 11th. Carsen will be staying at the orphanage until July 1st. She will be working there for the month. She will also get to spend Sutton's first birthday with her. It's hard to believe that it's been almost a year since we found out about this sweet little girl!! She was only a few weeks old and a few pounds when we committed to her. Now she is almost 1 and trying to walk!!

I'm praying that they will be home really soon!! Landon turns 2 in July and we really need to get him in to see a cardiologist ASAP. His condition typically begins to worsen after the child turns 2!! Right now he is doing really well and we are praying that he continues to stay healthy!!

I'll post new pictures when I get back from Haiti!! Blessings!!

We are home!

The missions trip was awesome. We got a lot done at the orphanage and had a great time with the kids. Landon is doing really well. His heart condition hasn't slowed him down at all. He fell in love with his Daddy and became a permanent attachment to Jody's side! Sutton is getting so big. She's trying to walk and tries so hard to keep up with the big kids at the orphanage. She is absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to get them home!!

Our attorney is hopeful that we will be able to bring them home this summer. I'm trying to be realistic and know it will be more likely this fall. We are of course praying for sooner but don't want to be disappointed when it ends up being later!!

We are planning on Carsen going to Haiti for a month this summer. Right now we don't know when she will go because airfare is really high but we are hopeful it will happen.

Thanks for the prayers!! Please continue to pray that the kids remain healthy and that they are home soon!

Auction was a huge success!!

We raised enough money to go and have extra to buy much needed supplies for the orphanage. We leave in 11 days and there is still so much to do! Keep us in your prayers! Gail

pictures of kids

Both pictures were taken at the end of Feb. I'll post more when we get back from Haiti!

Sutton

Landon with his Nanny

16 days till I see my kids again!!

Our missions team from church leaves on April 15th for Haiti. We will be there 8 days. The excitement is growing. We have a dinner and silent auction this weekend and God willing we will earn enough money to fund the rest of the trip!!

There has been increased violence in Haiti, please pray that things calm down and we are able to go and get the work done!! Haiti is an unstable country so violence is inevitable there but there are times when it gets worse. If it gets worse then we will have to postpone the trip. Everyone who is going has taking vacation time so it would be very difficult to find time to go later!! PLEASE, keep the trip in your prayers! Thanks!

Checking in!!!

We are still waiting with hundreds of other families in IBESR. We recently sent a letter to the director of IBESR that a cardiologist wrote on Landon's behalf. It says that Landon's heart condition is stable but he needs to be in the US ASAP for observation. We are praying that this will speed things up for us. Right now Landon is doing OK but his condition could deteriorate very rapidly and he should be under the care of a cardiologist which is not possible in Haiti.

Please continue to lift our children up in prayer. Sutton is growing like crazy and is already pulling herself up and trying to walk and she will be 9 months old on the 30th of March. Landon is growing and running all over the place. On the 13th of March he will be 21 months old!! We are praying they are home by Christmas time.

Finally submitted to IBESR!

I just got news from our Haitian attorney that we have been official submitted to IBESR!! Now we wait and wait and wait some more. I've heard of people waiting 5-6 months to have their dossiers signed. I'm praying it doesn't take that long but preparing for the worst! I hoping to have the kids home by Christmas.

Other news- Our church is still trying to raise enough money to go to Haiti in April. We have 10 people interested in going and it will cost $1200.00 per person. We need to raise $12,000!!! We have around $1200 raised so far. If anyone would like to make a tax-deductible donation let me know!! We could really use the help!
